Second this. Html is just so darn universal now

I have been puked on when riding the bart and know several people who have seen a person die or get murdered. This dismissal of the very real problems of public transport is why public transport has the reputation it does.

Can confirm. My partner has had far too many bad encounters on bart. I had a female coworker say she saw a guy get murder with a hammer on bart.

Obviously everyone’s experience is different but public transit had a bad rep for a reason and it had nothing to do with class/status and almost all to do with safety. Uber/lyft is getting a bad rep too due to safety.

Funny. Search is the only thing that is outstanding as it is the big revenue arm, that and youtube.

The last time i tried using gmaps i got ads and the thing could figure out where i was on the roads. It was comical as i always remembered google maps being better than apple. Today tho, apple beats them hands down.

Googles products that do not get cancelled are pretty mediocre in todays market. They can build useful things but if it doesnt have ads in it, it gets axed

> the thing could figure out where i was on the roads

Is this missing a "not"?

Yes.

This so much this. Gmail overall is pretty meh and then it has these stupid footguns that make it awful.

When the cost for this leverage is more than an employee the math stops mathing.

Additionally, for tech work. There is a tension about doing work and not knowing that output is correct or not. I have seen ai spit out thousands of lines of opencv code for a simple color lut. The person doing this had no idea what was going on. If they continued, the token cost and time waiting for agents spinning only goes up.

Yes, agents get smarter and cheaper but the above example replays over and over again even on crud apps. You still need to dev the skills and transfer costs for it to be effective.

Sadly, knowing most people, headline is rarely read past even when it isnt paywalled

Most games are strictly scaled on resolution due to how deferred pipelines run. This is exactly the slider to max or not max everything on a gpu for games. The more pixels the more memory and the more compute.

If you're rendering at native resolution, which many PC gamers do, going higher isn't significantly better because it just helps with antialiasing via supersampling. There's no point rendering so much more pixels just because you can, that's just a waste of electricity.

The more pixels, the more compute of fragments but not necessarily more memory. A fragment might hit the same texel as an adjacent fragment.

Certainly not more from main memory, and maybe not more from the vram either depending on how the pipeline goes.

It's not a linear slider.

I am with you sans shit hole country town. Talk about a large brush.

I’ll be blunt and say you certainly sounds like someone “post money” talking if castes and such. Glad you got your nut and do not care how it shakes out.

What is sad about oss? What is it turning into? I will say far before ai came in oss was a few arms deep in the techfluqncer culture where motivations were driven by gh stars and follow counts rather than a genuine interest. Or maybe what was a genuine interest became twisted as the culture changed.

> Glad you got your nut and do not care how it shakes out.

I do care, it's why I commented what I commented. ;P

I already acknowledged that "caste" is an incorrect word choice and I could've done better there, but my core point remains unchanged.

> I already acknowledged that "caste" is an incorrect word choice and I could've done better there, but my core point remains unchanged.

Considering the reactions, it was a very amusing "mistake" to make (a bikeshedding lightning rod so to speak).

Though I guess "caste" is a bit more sensitive in some cultures, which might explain why some commentators hyperfixate on that part of your comment.

There is no need for quotes around "mistake". ;P
