Remember that AOL hook into the internet in late 1993 just as the X-File was showing season one. Dial up internet was a big thing by the mid-90s, especially for CS students who used it when at college.
There's more to the article than just the article. A technical blog elicits discussion and conversation in the comments. I never get why people totally miss such value add.
I don't see it that way. It's just the GP poster saying that they don't get it. Usually that means the GP poster isn't experienced enough to understand the rationality. So I generally assume the GP poster is simply naive.
I'm sure there's some AI to help you out. The skunkworks AI projects at companies are what people should really be worried about. The current AI stuff is just rudimentary to test the waters.
