Intel has quicksync, which really helps with video transcoding. However it’s getting to the point where the extra cores might make it the switch worthwhile, and software transcoding is reportedly superior (not that I would be able to tell).
The rumoured AMD Nuc offerings look promising too. Interesting times after so much stagnation.
"amd" "nuc" seems a contradiction, "NUC" is an Intel trademark, right ?
Assuming you're using "nuc" as a generic term, is there an AMD-specific search term I can use to find these rumors? I've been in the market recently for a nuc form-factor machine and I've wanted to go with AMD, but haven't found much.
From the replies, these two might be interesting... no idea if they're worth it vs. a little more for an ITX build. The second one looks like a higher level cpu, but not sure of the real differences.
It’s definitely a contradiction - it’s just the Intel seem to have defined the category now.
I’m struggling and can’t find the link I thought I’d found in the r/intelnuc sub.
It was unreleased hardware at this stage though. It was more powerful than the below, but larger.
