Great article. Strangely enough The Third Wave changed my life completely. Read it in one sitting, enthralled by this incredible vision of the future, and then and there pivoted my life completely towards computing. Simple reason - it was the only direction I felt was achievable for a simple soul like me. :)
It seems that Westerners are particularly fascinated with Tiananmen Square. I think it is because it was the only color revolution that completely failed. I (with ill intent) suspect that Westerners constantly fantasize about what would have happened if they had succeeded in 1989, so I sometimes wonder what china would be like now if they had - it certainly would be very different from today
