Has it occurred to anyone that AI could be used as an economic weapon?
By simply undercutting the fees that Big Tech plans to charge, China could easily nullify the huge investments being made in AI.
And they have the ability to do it --- by relying on cheap, renewable power that they are building out at an astonishing rate.
Going forward, fossil fuel energy is a liability, not an advantage. China is playing chess, everyone else is stuck with leadership that is playing checkers.
I would say that economy is a weapon already. We even say "commercial war". Putting an embargo on another country, or tariffs, are all adversarial behaviours.
My two cents: I am fine with "discounts" as in "pay less for the same thing", but not with "bait and switch" as in "oh you paid for X? I will just change it to a much worse version of X now that you have paid, what will you do?".
