Pretty standard, if effective, propaganda tactic. All "they" have to do is stick the words "Based on a True Story" somewhere in there, and they can diverge however far they want from the facts, yet people will still gobble it up.


Reminds me of what I thought how US government should have responded to cable leaks. All they had to respond with was with: Indeed, SOME of the leaks are ours/true. End of story, no one would be sure anymore what is true, what is false.


The finest demonstration of that is the turd, sorry film Pearl Harbour....


Agree. However, I have doubts on Assange's credibility. Although I am inclined to believe what Assange had said, Assange absconded bail which was posted by his friends and supporters.


Given the circumstances, I know no individual who would have done otherwise.


If this is all they found on him, I think he's likely more credible than many of us :)

On a side note, it is a known tactics in politics - discredit your opponent early, for when he talks, nobody will listen. As an added bonus, it diverts attention from the actual matter (leaked materials) to a character debate.
