I'm not sure where you are coming from that Unix reboots are frequent but please stay away from any that I have to interact with.

Windows on the other hand still require reboots fairly regularly.



In this context, "reboot" means the program exiting and being started again.


That's not the common meaning of reboot, in fact, it's not even an alternative meaning.
